Leitner Family Observatory and Planetarium hosts school groups from across New Haven, and beyond. Our team of experienced and knowledgeable presenters provide a fun-filled educational experience for students in grades K-12.

Things to note before and during your visit

  • Bus pull-in and drop-off space in Lot 15 at 355 Prospect St. This is a permit-only lot until 4pm, so chaperones who are driving separately may need to find parking on Prospect St.
  • Encourage students to leave heavy or bulky items on the bus.
  • All school groups must adhere to our chaperone-to-student ratios:
    • Minimum required chaperones
      • Grades 1–3: 1 adult per 8 students
      • Grades 4–8: 1 adult per 10 students
      • Grades 9–12: 1 adult per 12 students
  • Some items in the building are touchable, but some equipment, like large telescopes and the planetarium projector, are not. Please encourage students to check with chaperones before touching anything.
  • No food, drinks, or gum are allowed in the planetarium theater. 
  • Please make sure no belongings are left behind after the presentation.
