The Leitner Family Observatory & Planetarium is available to rent by Yale University Departments and Yale Organizations only. Yale events must fit around our ongoing educational and outreach activities.

To obtain details about renting the observatory and planetarium for a Yale department event, please click on the Booking Reservation Request link below to fill out the form.

We ask that departments submit requests at least two weeks before an event.

Details to include on your request:

  • Preferred date/time of event
  • Number of attendees
  • Purpose of event (reception, planetarium show, telescope observing, etc.)
  • Department name and contact info
  • Any additional comments that may be helpful

Poetry was shining as bright as the stars in the Leitner Family Planetarium. Acclaimed visual poet, Monica Ong presented work from her forthcoming collection, Planetaria, in an immersive poetry reading she custom-designed for the planetarium experience: a show mixing poetry, science, and star gazing for about 100 attendees.
